Windows 11 Microphone Not Working in OBS? Here’s the Quick Fix
If your microphone suddenly refuses to work in OBS Studio on Windows 11, don’t panic — it might just be a quick settings issue.
Step-by-Step Fix
Open Windows Settings
Press Windows Key + I to open the Settings menu.
Go to Sound Settings
In the left sidebar, click System → Sound.
Find Your Microphone
Under Input, select your active microphone.
Click Properties to open its detailed settings.
Check Input Volume
Look for the Input volume slider.
If it’s set to 0 or shows as muted, drag it up to your normal level.
Test in OBS
Go back to OBS Studio, check your audio meter, and you should see the mic levels moving again.
Why This Happens
Sometimes Windows updates or app permissions reset audio settings in the background. This can mute your microphone without you realizing it. OBS then simply has no sound to capture — making it look like a bigger problem than it is.
Pro Tip: While you’re in Properties, make sure Allow apps to access your microphone is enabled in the Privacy & security settings. This will save you future headaches.
